Former Pakistan Cricketer makes a sensational statement on Suryakumar Yadav after his third T20I Hundred against Sri Lanka

Suryakumar Yadav walked the talk in the third T20I against Sri Lanka as he smashed 112 off 51 balls which was also his third hundred in T20Is. He hit seven fours and nine sixes in his innings. India’s 360-degree player was toying with the Sri Lankan bowlers at Rajkot as they did not know what hit them. This gave India a 2-1 series win.

Suryakumar received a lot of appreciation all over the world for his wonderful knock including former Pakistan captain Salman Butt. He also made a critical remark about Suryakumar and said that he is very fortunate to be representing the Indian Cricket Team.

“I was reading everywhere that he came to international cricket when he was over 30. I just thought, he’s lucky that he is Indian. If he was in Pakistan, he would’ve been victim to the over-30 policy (there have been reports that the Ramiz Raja-led PCB didn’t allow players who are 30 or above to join national team),” Butt said on his YouTube channel.

Suryakumar had a late entry into the Indian Team as he debuted into the Indian side at 30 after breaking the door down with consistent performances in domestic cricket and also in the Indian T20 League. He was ignored for a long period of time before he was called up to the Indian Team in 2021.

“Those who are in team, they are fine. Those who aren’t in the team, they don’t have a chance. Suryakumar broke into the team when he was 30. So, his case is different,” Butt further elaborated.. “The fitness, the batting reflexes, the batting maturity… it’s like he already knows what the bowlers are going to bowl,” Butt added. He said that Suryakumar is able to outthink the bowler which helps him score runs more quickly.

Suryakumar has scored three T20 hundreds in a span of two years. He has also been a revelation for India in the middle order with his 360 degree prowess and also with his ability to play spin well and target different areas of the ground.
