3. Ishant Sharma
Ishant Sharma emerged as an aggressive fast bowler in the year 2007 when he made his ODI debut against South Africa. His early success came in the 2008 CB series in Australia where he was the third highest wicket-taker of the tournament. He troubled many batters in the series that included the likes of Ricky Ponting, Andrew Symonds and Adam Gilchrist.
Ishant was often criticized for being expensive in ODIs but Dhoni always backed him. Ishant repaid his captain’s trust when he turned the match in India’s favour in the 2013 Champions Trophy final, picking up the crucial wickets of Eoin Morgan and Ravi Bopara on consecutive deliveries. The tall fast bowler picked up 104 wickets in 69 matches under MS Dhoni’s captaincy at an average of 29 and economy of 5.68.
