The Ashes series between Australia and England has come alive as fans, experts, former players, media are getting involved in the action. It has heated up so much that even the Prime minister of Australia has reacted to the incidents. Social media is divided with differences of opinions over the dismissal. While the English are mostly questioning the spirit of the game from Australia regarding Jonny Bairstow’s dismissal, Australians are reacting to the allegations of English in different ways.

Geoffrey Boycott, one of the finest Test openers in Test cricket, has reacted to the incident of Jonny Bairstow. The Yorkshire man has condemned the act of the Australian players. The former English cricketer asked the Australian players to issue a public apology over Bairstow’s stumping. Boycott said, “If Australia are man enough, they should issue a public apology over Jonny Bairstow stumping”. Speaking to a news outlet, Geoffrey Boycott expressed his disappointment over the Australians.

War of words off the field

The stumping of Jonny Bairstow has become a talking point after the second Test. The English players themselves are disappointed with the incident and complained to the Australian players about the lack of sportsmanship. The former cricketers have joined the criticism by asking the players to issue apologies for the incident. Many fans are pointing out the hypocrisy of English by pointing out some past incidents like Bairstow himself attempting a similar stumping against Marnus Labuschagne.

The former Australian cricketers have stood by their players. Reacting to the spirit of the game accusations of English cricketers, the Australian players have replied with the argument of following the rules of the game. With the third Test of the series to start on 6th July at Headingley, everyone is waiting for the crucial Test to begin to resume the action. The English captain Ben Stokes is confident of his team turning things around. It’s to be seen who would emerge victorious in the big clash.
