‘Delhi Capitals ka halat dekh liya’- Fans react as Ricky Ponting reveals he received England Test head coach offer prior to Brendon McCullum

England and Australia wowed the Edgbaston crowd in the first Ashes Test. The Kangaroos got the better of the Three Lions by three wickets. Australia now has a valuable 1-0 lead going into the second Test at Lords. After the Edgbaston defeat the English media tore into the team and questioned Brendon McCullum about Bazball. Many fans were also asking whether the declaration from Ben Stokes was well-timed or not.

On another note, Ricky Ponting in a sensational claim said that he was approached to take up the England coaching job before McCullum eventually got the role. Ponting said he exchanged some calls with Rob Key who was the director of the England men’s cricket team but had to turn down the offer “I actually got asked before Brendon took the job,” Ponting told Guerilla Cricket this week.

“I did take some calls from Robert Key as soon as he took over that job. But I’m just not ready for a full-time international coaching job, where I’m at in my life. Having travelled as much as I have, with young kids now I just don’t want to be away as much as I was. Ponting said. “And even talking to Brendon, his family is only just arriving today. When you’ve got kids that are in school, moving them around, that’s not what I want to do.” he added.

He was Australia’s assistant coach to Justin Langer in the 2019 World Cup. When it comes to the Indian Premier League (IPL). Ponting is the head coach of the Delhi Capitals.
