Cricketer dies of chest pain while playing in Ahmedabad

The unfortunate incident happened at Gujarat with a player enduring the death in the middle of the game

A cricketer died while playing due to a cardiac arrest. He was playing cricket in Ahmedabad when the unfortunate incident happened. The man Vasant Rathod worked as a clerk. He was a senior clerk of state goods and services tax (SGST) department and lost his life in a rather unfortunate incident. As per reports, Rathod was playing on the ground in dental college in Bhadaj near Ahmedabad. 

He fell to the ground due to cardiac arrest. The fellow players rushed him to the nearby dental college. Later on, when it was ascertained that his oxygen level was fast receding, he was then moved to Sola hospital straightaway.  He was declared dead on arrival. The 34-year-old was a resident of Vastrapur, Gujarat. He also had a wife and was married.

He worked at the SGST office in Ahmedabad in unit 14., a senior official of SGST who spoke to the Times of India said that “During the match, Rathod’s team was fielding. He appeared to be fine when he was near the crease, bowling. However, he suddenly felt severe chest pain and collapsed. His fellow players rushed to his rescue.”

There have been two more cases that have happened in the exact same circumstances while playing cricket. Prashant Bharolia who was 27 years old from Rajkot suffered the same fate. The same set of unfortunate circumstances was met by Jignesh Chauhan of Surat who was 31 years old had also met his death due to cardiac arrest while playing cricket.

Cricket is one of the most followed sports in India. The public are crazy about cricket in India. The cricketers are treated like gods in the country and are given cult status which is akin to superheroes. The Indian Cricket Board is one of the richest cricket boards in the world. The board has made the stadiums World class and also superb infrastructure hs been made for the sport as well.

Cricket also took a different turn in 2008 when the Indian T20 league was introduced after India won the inaugural edition of the 20-20 World Cup in 2007 after they beat Pakistan in a hard-fought final at the Wanderers in Johannesburg. The Indian T20 League has given handsome paychecks and helped change a lot of livelihoods.
