WATCH: Ex Gujarat star injures his jaw while taking a stunning catch at ILT20, gets stretchered off

The International League T20 that is taking place in the United Arab Emirates has caught a lot of eyeballs from around the world and also has been a very high-octane league with high standards of cricket being played. In a game that took place between Gulf Giants and the Sharjah Warriors, Dominic Drakes suffered an injury after he took an outstanding catch.

The West Indies all-rounder, who played, for Gulf Giants took a stunning catch in the deep to dismiss Moeen Ali, the captain of the Warriors. It was a short delivery and Moeen did not time the ball well. He tried to pull the ball and it went in the air as he had not timed it. Drakes came in and dove to take the catch, but he ended up injuring his face on the turf. His hands were stuck between the chest and the ground. The medical staff arrived and in what was a very dreadful end as he had to be stretchered off the field.

Gulf Giants won the match by seven wickets against the Sharjah Warriors

Carlos Brathwaite dismissed Moeen Ali for just 1 run off 4 balls, when he bowled the sixth over of the first innings. After being taken on the stretcher, Drakes was moved to the hospital for further treatment. Drakes has represented Chennai in Indian T20 League 2021 and also Gujarat in 2022. He has been part of the title-winning side.

Coming to the match, The Warriors were annihilated by the Giants as they were bundled out for just 107 in 18.3 overs in their first innings. The top scorer was Kohler Cadmore, who made 33 off 19 balls, with six fours and one six. Nabi made 21 off 20 balls, with two fours. In the run chase, the target was a breeze for the Giants as they chased down the score in 16.3 overs.

The skipper James Vince made 27 off 31 balls at the top of the order in the run chase, with three fours. The New Zealander Colin de Grandhomme made 35 off 28 balls, with two fours and two sixes. Afzal Khan and Gerhard Erasmus finished the job for the side as they scored an unbeaten 14 off 13 balls, with one four and one six, and 10 off 12 balls, with one four, respectively.
