‘Cannot Underestimate the West Indies’ – Twitter disheartened over India’s loss in the Second T20I

The second T20 between India and the West Indies concluded at Warner Park in St Kitts on Monday. However, there was action happening off the field even before the first ball was bowled. Due to luggage trouble, the start of the match was delayed which caused great inconvenience to the players. The Match finally got the green signal to start at 11:00 pm IST.

West Indies won the toss and elected to field. The pitch at Warner Park at St Kitt’s was more pace friendly and so The Men in Blue went in for the extra pacer in Avesh Khan who came in place of Ravi Bishnoi the wrist spinner. Odean Smith and Obed McCoy came in for Shamarh Brooks and Keemo Paul respectively for the West Indies side.

Obed McCoy who had been in good T20 form for the Rajasthan side in the Indian T20 League showed why he was so potent and why he was the gun bowler for the Rajasthan side in the Indian T20 League recently concluded 2022 edition. Jerseys had changed for Mccoy but his form remained the same.

He ran riot over the batting lineup of the Men in Blue and picked up a sizzling six for just 17 runs and he accounted for the big wickets of – Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Dinesh Karthik, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, respectively. The Men in Blues’ problems with left-arm pace came back to haunt them as they got out to Obed McCoy like nine pins.

The bowlers fought hard and tried to defend the 138-run total to make a match out of it, but alas the total was not an easy one to defend. Arshdeep Singh, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Hardik Pandya and Avesh Khan picked up a wicket each and tried to launch a fightback for the Indian team.

The West Indies can’t be underestimated in the T20 format and the Men in Blue got a big taste of it. Very tight schedule and the two sides will again face off at the same venue today. West Indies will look for another win while the Men in Blue will be very keen to make amends in the 3rd T20I.
