Farid Khan’s amusing posts have resurfaced on the internet, drawing laughter and incredulity from Indian cricket fans. The Pakistani journalist’s attempt to suggest a boycott of India’s cricket matches, particularly during the ongoing World Cup, has left many perplexed. It’s a notion that tickles the funny bone, given that India is hosting the World Cup, and the enthusiasm of Indian cricket fans knows no boundaries.

Even if the matches weren’t taking place on Indian soil, the stadiums would still be brimming with fans, thanks to the massive Indian diaspora spread across the globe. Indian supporters passionately back their team, no matter the opposition. This was evident in events like the India vs. Ireland series earlier this year, where even with some of the star players rested, Indian fans flocked to get a glimpse of their beloved team. With this level of unwavering support, the notion of boycotting a game featuring India, let alone a World Cup fixture, seems rather far-fetched.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) recently filed a formal complaint about the alleged misbehaviour of Indian fans during India vs. Pakistan World Cup clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium, which culminated in an electrifying victory for India.

The Laughter and Bewilderment Over Farid Khan’s Tweets

In one of Farid Khan’s recent posts, he humorously declares, “Don’t angry me! Abhi sirf India vs Bangladesh ka boycott kia hay, agar India ke aur matches boycott kardiye toh Elon Musk aur ICB/Apex Council ka sara revenue affect hojaega. Ab apology se neechay baat nahin hogi.” Indian fans, however, have responded to this post with a blend of humour and bewilderment, as they find it implausible that a mere tweet can significantly affect the revenue of the Apex Cricket Council and the Indian Cricket Board.

Farid Khan’s assertions and requests for apologies in his posts have only added to the laughter. In the cricketing world, Team India and Indian cricket fans constitute the largest and most influential market for the sport. Therefore, Khan’s attempt to boycott India’s matches, along with the associated revenue implications, appears more comical than credible.

Indian cricket fans continue to support their team with unmatched enthusiasm, making the prospect of a boycott a whimsical notion that is unlikely to see the light of day. Farid Khan’s posts, though entertaining, fail to diminish the unwavering commitment and passion of Indian cricket enthusiasts.
