Barcelona to put forward loan offer to rein in Manchester City star

Barcelona according to reports want to get star player and right-back Joao Cancello. As per news expert  Fabrizio Romano, the Spanish Giants want to get Cancelo on loan with the option that they buy him at a later date. The club and the defender have been in talks and they have come to a conclusion when it comes to personal terms. Romano gave the message on his account on X which is formerly Twitter. This is what he said.

“Understand Barcelona are set to submit a formal bid for João Cancelo! Loan with an option-to-buy clause is on the table with Man City. Crucial days to make it happen after personal terms agreed.” Romano further went on to say that the Catalans will use some of the money that they garner from the sale of Ousmane Dembele who is going to make the switch to Paris Saint Germain (PSG).”Barça will use part of Dembélé money for Cancelo, as revealed one week ago.” Romano added.

Cancello has been part of Manchester City’s historic treble

Romano did not divulge any details as to whether Manchester City will get a Loan fee for the loan deal when the proceedings take place. City is seen wanting to part ways with Cancelo, who went in the second half of last season on loan at Bayern Munich after he had a bitter feud with City manager Pep Guardiola. In all, he was part of 21 games for City. He had diminishing returns from the club when he played. He had a solitary goal along with six assists to his name.

Cancelo came on board to  City way back in 2019 on a cash-plus-player deal that saw Juventus pick up Danillo. From that point on, he has played 154 games for the Guardiola coached side where he, scored nine goals along with 22 assists.

He has been a part of two Premier League titles, one FA Community Shield win and also a two-time winner of the Carabao Cup as a permanent member of the City side. Cancelo also was a part of history when City won the treble, He also was a part of 17 league games, He made an appearance in a single game both in the FA Cup and Carabao Cup and also six UEFA Champions League fixtures.
