‘Babar ki galti he sab’ -Fans react as Zimbabwe Select beat Pakistan Shaheens by 80 runs in the second ODI
Zimbabwe Select and Pakistan Shaheens played out the second ODI. The Chevrons were already leading the series 1-0 going into the game. Zimbabwe did not get off to the best of starts. They lost Innocent Kaia and Wessly Madhevere for just 10 runs on the board. Then Taidwanshe Marumani and Craig Erivne got a partnership going and steadied the ship. Marumani made 16 off 22 balls with three fours. Ervine made 23 off 28 balls with four fours.
Marumani was run out and Erivne was dismissed by Ameer Jamal. Sean Williams fell cheaply as well. Then Ryan Burl and Clive Madande came to Zimbabwe’s rescue to cement their position in the match. Burl made a precious 47 off 60 balls with four fours and one six. Madande made a quick 43 off 44 balls with six fours. After the two departed it looked precarious for Zimbabwe as they lost three wickets after that.
Blessing Muzarabani put up a game changing performance with bat and ball for Zimbabawe Select
But, the Chevrons found an unlikely hero in Blessing Muzarabani. The big, tall bowler showed what his batting skills was all about. The seamer made an unbelviable 50 off 24 balls with seven fours and two sixes. He was striking at a rate of 208.33. Pakistan could not believe what hit them. The Men in Green let the game slip from their grasp.
Jamal was Pakistan’s best bowler as he picked 5-75 in his 10 overs. In the second innings, the Pakistan batting did not put up a great show as the Men in Green were bundled out for 156. Victor Nyauchi and Sean Williams picked up two wickets each in their spells of eight and six overs respectively. Muzarabani was not done yet as he starred with the ball for the Chevrons as well.
He picked up 4-23 in his short burst of 6.3 overs. Pakistan was blown away by him. For Pakistan only three batters could conjure up a big score. Imran Butt the skipper made 45 off 81 balls with three fours. Muhammad Hurraira made 33 off 36 balls with four fours and one six. Mubasir Khan made 44 off 60 balls with seven fours. But in the end, all these contributions went in vain and Zimbabwe Select beat Pakistan Shaheens by 80 runs.
