Pakistan were not able to chase down Zimbabwe’s target of 130 and fell short by one run in the last ball of the match. The loss against the Chevrons has put a question mark on Pakistan as to whether they can make it to the semi-finals of the 20-20 World Cup 2022.

Sikandar Raza was the game-changer with the ball for Zimbabwe picking up three wickets. The first question which was posed to Raza was about the side believing if they could win the game.”At what time, did you start believing that this match can come to your side?” the reporter asked Raza.

The Zimbabwean all-rounder put forth a reply that left the reporter stumped.“Before the first ball was bowled. I personally thought we were 15-20 runs short, but I really truly believed in this group of boys. We knew if we field well and take our chances, and cut those important twos, we can really win this game. And the way Ngarawa and Mbunu (Blessing Muzarabani) started the first two overs, and then, of course, we had early wickets,” Raza said.

The Reporter went on to ask Raza what he thinks about Zimbabwe’s semi-final chances in the tournament to which he replied that Zimbabwe is looking to be in the present and not get too ahead of themselves.

“We are going to take one game at a time. All our energy was on Pakistan, now we will shift to Bangladesh. We will do our analysis, we will take one game at a time. But inshallah, we believe in this group of boys. We have opened this group for everyone. Anyone who plays good cricket can win,” Raza further added.

Raza was the differentiator with the ball for the Chevrons as he picked up 3 for 25 in his four overs and made the Pakistan middle order dance to his tunes. This puts Pakistan in a spot of bother with regards to their World Cup qualification chances as they will have to now win all their remaining games by big margins to stay alive in the 20-20 World Cup 2022.
