Mumbai continued to suffer first game blues in the Indian T20 League as they lost Bangalore by 8 wickets. Bangalore had a memorable return to the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. This was Bangalore’s first game in the Indian T20 League The bowlers did well for the Bold Army in the first half as Mumbai were reduced to 48-4. Just when Mumbai looked down in the doldrums, Tilak Varma did the rescue act.
The left-hander came in at a crisis situation and took on the Bangalore bowling. The Bold Arry which had got their act together initially, were pear-shaped in the death overs. Varma made 84 off 46 balls with nine fours and four sixes. This helped Mumbai get to 171-7 in 20 overs. Ab de Villers was also in attendance at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Mystic Sadhguru also was present there he interacted with the South African. A picture of the two has gone viral on social media.
Faf Du Plessis made 73 off 43 balls with five fours and two sixes to help Bangalore win againstย Mumbai.
Sadhguru has done some great work at the Isha Foundation and also launched moments in India such as ‘Save the soil’ and also a moment to save the Kaveri River. The Kaveri River is the underlying source of water for both Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. The two Southern states have had quite a few disputes over the ownership of the river in recent times.
Coming back to the match, Bangalore decided to make light work of this total. The Bold Army chased the target of 172 down in 16.2 overs. This gave a huge boost to Bangalore’s net run rate. Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis were in roaring form. Kohli made a stunning unbeaten 82 off 49 balls with six fours and five sixes. Du Plessis made 73 off 43 balls with five fours and two sixes.
Du Plessis was hitting boundaries in the initial phase and took the pressure off Kohli. Kohli, on the other hand, took his time. Once he got his eye in, he found his range and outscored du Plessis in the end. This is only the third time that Bangalore have beaten Mumbai at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in 11 games.
