Australia’s Cameron Green becomes the second most expensive player in the Indian T20 League

In the Indian T20 League 2023 mini-auction, a lot of money rained on Australian all-rounder Cameron Green. There was a huge battle between Mumbai and Delhi to buy Green, in which Mumbai did not give up till the end and spent Rs 17.50 crores. As soon as Green’s name came up, teams started bidding for him so fast that in the blink of an eye he crossed the Rs 10 crore mark. It seemed that the teams were sitting to buy him only as he became the second-costliest player in the history of the league.

Mumbai, who bid till Rs. 18.00 crore for Sam Curran, ensured that they get Green in their ranks for the 2023 edition of the major league by beating competition from Bangalore and Delhi. Curran’s Rs. 18.50 crore bid by Punjab is the only bid in cash-rich league history that is higher than Green’s bid.

Will Cameron Green be effective? 

The 23-year-old Green has played only eight T20 International matches so far, in which he has scored only 139 runs. Overall, he has the experience of playing 21 T20 matches, in which he has scored 245 runs. Green has only five wickets in the T20. If we look at these figures, Green does not look very effective, but Mumbai has bought him keeping the future in mind.

Kieron Pollard had served Mumbai for a decade and now Green will also have a chance to play for a long time. Green can also open the batting, so after the departure of Rohit Sharma, the team will not have to search much.

English all-rounder Curran was bought by Punjab for Rs 18.50 crore, which has made him the costliest player in league history. There was a tough fight between Punjab and Chennai for Curran, but Punjab did not back down till the end and succeeded in buying Curran. Curran played his debut season for Punjab and took a hat-trick in that season. Now, once again, he will be seen playing for his old team.
