‘Arey ye sab bandh kar’ – Fans come up with hilarious memes over Bangalore’s probability to qualify for WTL eliminator

The Bangalore side in the Women’s T20 League have not had the best of starts in the competition. The Smriti Mandhana led side have lost five on the trot.  They lost the first match against Delhi by a margin of 60 runs. The Mumbai franchise demolished them in the next game by 9 wickets. Bangalore gave a tough fight to Gujarat but lost by 11 runs. UP crushed Bangalore and won the next game by 10 wickets.

The Bold Army then lost to Delhi again for the second time by 6 wickets. On paper, it seems like this is the end of Bangalore in the Women’s T20 League. But here are some probabilities on how Bangalore can qualify for the eliminator in Women’s T20 League. Here’s a look at that:

Bangalore can still qualify for the eliminator if –

1. Bangalore win all the remaining 3 games. –

2.Mumbai and Delhi win their matches against Gujarat and UP

3. Gujarat  beat UP.

Smriti Mandhana has scored 88 runs from five innings for Bangalore

The Mandhana led side have been found wanting with the ball. The bowling has not been penetrative enough. The bowlers have been expensive and conceded a lot of runs. The spin attack of Bangalore is inexperienced. The batters from the franchise have not been amongst the runs. This has not helped Bangalore make big totals and they are not able to chase as well.

The batters have lost wickets in clusters which have made things worse. Mandhana has registered scores of 35, 23, 18, 4 and 8 in five innings. The performance of the side has put pressure on Mandhana. She has not led the side well. Ellyse Perry and Sophie Devine are the two overseas players who have batted well for the side.

Shreyanka Patil has been the biggest bright spot for the franchise. Patil picked up 2-32 against Gujarat with the ball and scored 11 off 4 balls with one four and one six with the bat.
