India’s bowling unit in the final of the Women’s Asia Cup has won the hearts of every Indian cricket fan. The final of the Women’s Asia Cup 2022 between India and Sri Lanka is currently underway but India’s bowling unit has made the task relatively easier for the team to register a comprehensive victory.

Earlier, Sri Lanka had won the toss and elected to bowl first. It proved to be a pretty bad decision as they crumbled to an outstanding bowling display from the Indian bowlers.

Sri Lanka looked to make a cautious start but lost the big wicket of Athapaththu in the form of a run-out in the third over only. Renuka Singh, once again, exhibited a brilliant bowling display in the powerplay. In his second over of the game, she accounted for the wicket of Harshita (1) and it was followed with a run-out on the very next ball.

Hasini Perera then ballooned one straight to Smriti Mandhana at cover on her very first delivery. Three wickets fell in just three deliveries and Sri Lanka were in all sorts of trouble at 10 for 4 after just the first three overs of the innings. Renuka then picked her third scalp of the day in the form of Dilhari as Sri Lanka lost half of their side for just 16 runs on the board.

The spinners then spun a web around the Sri Lankan batters on a turf which had a lot of assistance for them. Gayakwad had one dragged on. Sneh Rana then came into the picture as she had Shehani (0) caught and bowled. At the end of the first 10 overs, Sri Lanka had lost seven wickets for just 26 runs on the board.

Ranasinghe, who looked good for her 13 off 20 balls, got out on the last ball of the 12th over as Gayakwad had her second wicket of the day. Sri Lanka would have been folded for anything under 50 but Ranaweera’s 18 off 22 helped the team reach 65 at the end of the first innings.

Nevertheless, it was an outstanding performance from the Indian bowlers and the fans have come up with heart-melting tweets for India’s women cricketers. India, in rely, chased down the score in 8.3 overs. Smriti Mandhana played an unbeaten knock of 51 runs in 25 balls, helping the team win the Women’s Asia Cup 2022 title.
