Eden Hazard retires at the age of 32.

Belgium’s wing wizard Eden Hazard has called time on his football career aged 32. The former Chelsea and Real Madrid winger decided to take this step after he could not find a club. Real Madrid had decided to relieve the Belgian from his contract at the end of last season.

Eden Hazard was considered one of the best along with Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. The wing sensation has won a plethora of trophies in London as well as the Santiago Bernabeu.

After Ronaldo’s departure to Juventus, it was expected that Eden Hazard would step. Playing for Los Blan”os though proved too much for Hazard as a combination of form and fitness came to haunt the player.

End of an era for Eden Hazard –

It was an emotional Tuesday for football fans across the world. Former winger Eden Hazard decided to retire from football aged just 32. The Belgian was without a club after his stint with Real Madrid ended at the end of last season. Taking to Instagram Eden Hazard wrote “You must listen to yourself and say stop at the right time, After 16 years and more than 700 matches played, I have decided to end my career as a professional footballer. I was able to realise my dream, I have played and had fun on many pitches around the world”

The former Chelsea star also mentioned without taking names all the people who had been with him in this journey. “During my career I was lucky to meet great managers, coaches and teammates — thank you to everyone for these great times. I will miss you all.” The 32-year-old also mentioned his family and thanked them for their love and support. Finally, before signing off Hazard thanked his fans and wrote “Finally, a huge thank you to you, my fans, who have followed me for all these years and for your encouragement everywhere I have played. Now is the time to enjoy my loved ones and have new experiences. See you off the field soon my friends.”

Eden Hazard has won five league titles during his domestic career once with Lillie, twice with Chelsea, and two more with Real Madrid. In a career spanning 459 league games, Hazard scored 125 goals. For Belgium, the 32-year-old played 126 times and scored 33 goals.
