Chairman of Selectors of the Indian Cricket Team, Chetan Sharma has resigned amidst a sting operation by a news channel in which he revealed some jaw-dropping revelations. Sharma was in Kolkata and was watching the Ranji Trophy final between Saurashtra and Bengal. He was to select the Irani Cup Team.

“Yes, Chetan has tendered his resignation to Indian Cricket Board secretary Jay Shah and his resignation has been accepted. His position had become untenable after the sting operation. He resigned voluntarily and wasn’t asked to resign,” A source from the Indian Cricket Board said.

When he dropped some bombshells to Zee News in the course of the sting operation, he said that players would take a lot of injections to fast forward the process of returning to the cricket pitch even though they were not entirely fit.

He paid the price for being a big mouth – A source from the Indian Cricket Board

He also talked about how he was not on the same terms with the Indian management when it came to the status of Jasprit Bumrah, who came back into the Indian side after a lengthy break from a stress fracture for the T20I series against Australia.

Chetan also went on to talk about the relationship between Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma and also claimed that Sourav Ganguly and Virat Kohli had a frosty relationship at one point.

Chetan was sacked after India’s disappointing campaign at the 20-20 World Cup in Australia as India crashed out against England in the semi-final of the World event. He then gave his name again for the selector’s post and was donning the chairman’s seat once again.

“Coach Rahul Dravid, captains Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya have completely lost faith in him. He couldn’t have possibly sat across the table along with them for selection committee meetings as he had lost all respect. He paid the price for being a big mouth,” said another source from the Indian Cricket Board. Let us take a look at the reactions on Twitter-
