KL Rahul did not have a good time in the second innings of the second Test against Australia in Delhi. He scored 1 run off 3 balls and fell to Nathan Lyon on the first ball of the second over. He had fallen prey to  Lyon in the first innings as well. Rahul played a painstaking innings of 17 off 41 balls, with one six. He looked very uncomfortable and was not batting in his free-flowing self. In the first Test as well. He scored 20 off 71 balls, with one four in Nagpur.

Rahul has not been in the best form in the white flannels for India. In the last 11 Tests, he has been failing continuously with the bat and leaving the Team in the lurch. He has averaged 31.75 from 11 Tests in the last 24 months and scored 135 runs in the last 10 innings. He has not been in good form across other formats as well. The opening batter has been very patchy and inconsistent with the bat.

KL Rahul has been very inconsistent with the bat

The Karnataka batter has been accused of favouritism and he is only on the Indian side because he is the vice-captain of the Men in Blue across formats. He has been on the side for that reason and not for his batting. The right-handed batter has not been able to string in good performances to prove his worth in the Indian Team.

With Rahul in the side but not scoring runs, he is not allowing the in-form players to be a part of the Test side such as Shubman Gill, who has scored runs in Test cricket and he had recently scored his maiden Test hundred against Bangladesh. The 30-year-old could be benched and taken out of the last two Tests on the back of his poor form.

India turned the match in Delhi as Australia ended their first innings on 263. India were bowled out for 262 with a one-run lead. In the second innings, Ravindra Jadeja bulldozed the Australians with an outstanding spell of bowling where he ended with 7-42 in his 12.1 over spell which gave India a target of 115 runs to win the match.
