‘Aa gaya line pe’ – Fans react as Harry Brook claims IPL as toughest competition he faced both physically and mentally
Harry Brook is one of the most exciting young talents in cricket today. Considered a generational talent, Brook is a special player who can change the complexion of a game in a matter of few overs. In his short career till now, the 24-year-old has won a lot of games for England, especially in the longest format of the game.
The Yorkshireman has been a sensation in Test cricket. In 12 Test matches, Harry Brook has scored 1174 runs at an exceptional average of 65.22, at a strike rate of 91.65, including 4 hundred and 7 fifty. In Lois, Brook has not been that great. In 3 ODIs, Brook has scored 86 runs at an average of 28.67, at a strike rate of 98.85. In 20 T20Is, Brook has scored 372 runs at an average of 26.57, at a strike rate of 137.78.
While the middle-order batter has been great in Test cricket, limited Overs cricket has not seen the best of Brook yet. In Test cricket though, the English batter has been amazing in almost every series. In the ongoing series against Australia, the youngster has had probably his toughest challenge. In 8 innings in the series, Brook has 356 runs at an average of 44.50, including 4 fifty.
IPL the toughest competition both physically and mentally – Brook
When asked about the challenge in Ashes and other forms of cricket, Brook said that the Indian Premier League is the toughest challenge he has gone through in cricket till this point in time. The Sunrisers Hyderabad player said, “IPL was the toughest competition I’ve faced both mentally and physically” and talked highly of the competition in the league.
Harry Brook did not have a great season for Sunrisers Hyderabad. In 11 matches for the franchise, the youngster scored only 190 runs at an average of just 21.11, at a strike rate of 123.38, with a single hundred to his name. Barring the hundred against Kolkata Knight Riders, Brook scored only 90 runs in 10 innings against different opponents.
Here’s how the fans reacted to Brook’s statement:
"IPL is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get."

Mentally: because one has got to justify the $$ one is getting.
Physically: because the format is way too harsh and long.— Izzat Aziz Rehman (@iziziz64780556) July 28, 2023
