In the 7th match of The Hundred 2022, Trent Rockets convincingly defeated Northern Superchargers by seven wickets. The Rockets delivered a complete all-rounded performance to claim the two points on the board. This was their second win in two matches this season.

Superchargers were sent in to bat first at Headingley in Leeds, but they could not get a good start. Early in the game, openers Adam Lyth and Faf du Plessis were both dismissed for ducks, putting pressure on the batters to follow. Wickets continued to fall for them, and they were unable to form any partnerships.

The Du Plessis-led side lost six wickets in 68 balls in 53 balls and appeared to be in trouble. However, Roelof van der Merwe and David Wiese got them back in to the game. They put on an 83-run partnership, with Merwe scoring 30 runs and Wiese scoring 50 runs. The two contributed to the Superchargers scoring 152 runs in the first two innings.

As for the bowlers, Daniel Sams was the best performer, with his figures of 31/3 in his 20 balls. Luke Wood and Luke Fletcher also took two wickets each, while Samit Patel took one.

The Rockets got off to a strong start in the chase, thanks to Alex Hales and Dawid Malan. The duo added a partnership of 86 runs, with each making significant contributions. Despite the wickets of Hales (43) and two others, the Rockets played well in the match.

Malan played excellent cricket to do the bulk of the job for his team. He remained unbeaten on 88 runs in 49 balls to take his team through. He played with a strike rate of close to 180, and hit 11 boundaries and three sixes in his innings. In the end, Trent Rockets easily won the match with six balls and seven wickets to spare.

For Superchargers, the bowlers did not have a good outing. Only Dwayne Bravo, Ben Raine, and Adil Rashid made a little contribution to the match, each getting a wicket.
