There have been a lot of speculations over a rift between Ravindra Jadeja and the Chennai franchise since the spinner was ruled out midway through the 2022 edition of the Indian T20 League due to an injury. Notably, Ravindra Jadeja was appointed as the captain of the Chennai franchise ahead of the start of the season.
However, lacklustre performance from the team in the first half of the competition meant MS Dhoni took over the leadership duties, which perhaps, didn’t go down well with the Indian all-rounder.
Following the conclusion of the Indian T20 League, there were rumours of a rift between Jadeja and the franchise. Recently, it was reported that the franchise was looking to trade Ravindra Jadeja for Shardul Thakur and Axar Patel with the Delhi franchise.
However, it has now been learned that they are adamant to keep Jadeja in the team for the next edition of the tournament. According to a report by Times of India, the Chennai skipper MS Dhoni has strongly advised having Ravindra Jadeja in the mix and has made it clear that the Indian all-rounder can’t be replaced.
The upcoming edition of the Indian T20 League will return to home and away format, which means that half of their matches will be played at Chennai’s home ground. Jadeja’s experience and all-rounder prowess would, certainly, be crucial to the team’s fortunes in the next season.
“He is an extremely crucial member of the team and Dhoni felt Jadeja’s influence cannot be replicated by another player, especially with CSK to play their home games in Chennai,” the report said.
The latest development has spread like a wildfire and the fans are elated to hear the news. However, some expressed their disappointment with MS Dhoni for not showing the same backing for Suresh Raina. Notably, Chennai didn’t make a single bid for Raina during last year’s auction, which didn’t go down well with the fans.
