This Friday, ahead of Sankranthi, Prasanth Varma’s HanuMan, starring Teja Sajja, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Amritha Aiyer, and Vinay Rai, was released. Both reviewers and fans have praised the movie, with many praising its depiction of a desi superhero. However, this also brought with it the movie buffs who once more used this as a chance to criticise director Om Raut for the failure of Adipurush, a Ramayana adaption that starred Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, and Saif Ali Khan in the main roles.

While Om has yet to respond or pay heed to these posts, X is filled with numerous users tagging him in their reviews for HanuMan and comparing it to his latest film. The internet is buzzing with memes on Adipurush. While fans appreciate Teja Sajja’s HanuMan the trolls for Adipurush get stronger. Produced on a low budget, HanuMan narrates the tale of an underdog named Hanumanthu (Teja) from the made-up village of Anjanadri who discovers a totem and gains superpowers. He’s soon blessed with Hanuman’s powers and when push comes to shove, he finds himself protecting the totem from falling into the wrong hands, like Michael’s (Vinay).

Adipurush, a movie that was released in the middle of 2023, was brutally attacked in the first teaser trailer. Despite having a large budget, many pointed out that the makers chose cartoon-like visual effects, moving far away from what the original material should have been. Prabhas starred in the simultaneously shot Telugu and Hindi movie, which also starred Kriti Sanon, Saif Ali Khan, Sunny Singh, Devdutta Nage, and many more in important roles.
