It’s the 50th birthday of the multi-talented Bollywood star Farhan Akhtar. As he turns a year older, we bring to his fans the best of his dialogues. For those who are not aware, Farhan Akhtar wears a variety of hats. In addition to being an actor, singer, composer, and director, he also writes. 5. ‘Haan Mein, Magar Wo’ – Dil Chahta Hai:

In many respects, Farhan’s 2001 directorial debut was revolutionary. It established a new standard for cinematic language in terms of both dialogue and images, and it also helped to define Farhan’s style as a writer and director.

4. ‘Mujhe Jungli Billiyan Bahut Pasand Hain’ – Don:

In his third directing project, Farhan completely redesigned the title character (portrayed by Shah Rukh Khan) in the 2006 adaptation of Chandra Barot’s 1978 classic crime thriller.

3. “Compromise kaun nahi karta” – Rock On!!:

Farhan wrote the dialogue for Abhishek Kapoor’s buddy musical in 2008, the same year he made his acting debut. His wife (Prachi Desai) begs him to rekindle his inner rock star years after his character left their rock band.

2. “Crocodile in a chiffon saree” – Luck By Chance:

Farhan, Zoya Akhtar‘s brother, co-wrote the dialogue for her 2009 feature film debut. The way veteran director Romy Rolly (Rishi Kapoor) refers to the cunning mother of his film’s heroine Neena (Dimple Kapadia) as ‘a crocodile in a chiffon saree’ was a brilliant move.

1. “Sorry tab kahiyega jab yahan se nikle” – Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara:

When Farhan’s character Imran first sees his estranged father (Naseeruddin Shah) in Zoya’s 2011 buddy road film, he asks him why he was abandoned as a child. When his father apologises at the end of the scene and asks if Imran can do anything to help, Imran responds, “Sorry tab kahiyega jab yahan se nikle please,” gesturing to his heart, and then exits the room.
