Finally, after two days of hide and seek with rain, India registered a thumping win against the Pakistan team by 228 runs in Super 4s at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. This victory is also the biggest win margin for the Indian team against the Pakistan team in One Day Internationals. With this win, the Indian team have climbed to the top spot in the points table of Super 4 and will also be playing against Sri Lanka tomorrow on the same ground.
The wrecker in chief with ball for the Indian team was Kuldeep Yadav who completely destroyed the Pakistan batting lineup and registered a five-wicket haul. The Chinaman finished with a bowling figure of 5/25 which is also the third-best bowling figure for any Indian spinner against the Pakistan team.
In the pursuit of 357 runs the Pakistan team never ever looked like that they were in the chase courtesy of some exuberating new ball bowling from the Indian new ball bowlers. The leader of the pack, Jasprit Bumrah started off the proceedings with a brilliant ball that dismissed the Pakistani opener Imam-ul-Haq (9), soon Babar Azam (10) also followed the hut when Hardik Pandya bowled him with a peach of a delivery.
Mohammad Rizwan was the third wicket to fall off the bowling of Shardul Thakur who looked deadly with the ball in a condition which were asserting the pacers. From then on it was just Kuldeep’s show who made sure that the Pakistan team could never come into the game as he dismissed them one after the other. Unfortunately, with Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf injured the Pakistan batting was restricted to 128 runs.
Let us look at how Twitter has reacted to this thumping win from the Indian team;

Pakistan fans can now subtract those 152 runs from these 228 runs if they can do maths.

In a stunning showcase of batting excellence, India’s Virat Kohli and KL Rahul asserted their dominance over Pakistan at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. The match, interrupted by rain on the reserve day, witnessed a remarkable display from Kohli and Rahul as they exhibited supreme composure at the crease.
Kohli showcased his brilliance by achieving his 47th century in the format, and his 77th century overall. His innings were a masterpiece, remaining unbeaten with a sensational 122 runs off just 94 deliveries. In this extraordinary feat, Kohli also etched his name in the history books by surpassing the iconic 13,000-run mark in ODI cricket. On the other hand, KL Rahul, returning to the Indian team after an injury layoff, made a remarkable comeback. He notched a superb unbeaten century, scoring 111 runs off 106 balls. Together, Kohli and Rahul orchestrated an unbeaten partnership worth 233 runs, steering India to a record-breaking total of 356 runs on a pitch that favored batsmen, despite the sluggish outfield conditions in Colombo.
