Asia Cup 2023 will be held in Sri Lanka and Pakistan in a hybrid model.

As the Asia Cup is approaching reports are emerging that India and Pakistan could lock horns against each other on September 2 in the Asia Cup 2023. According to a report by ESPNcricinfo, the tournament will commence on August 30 and not on August 31 as conveyed earlier. The report further stated that Pakistan and Nepal will likely play the opening game in Multan. The final mostly would be played in Colombo on September 17.
The schedule has seen a lot of changes and is likely to undergo more of them before the final schedule comes out. Pakistan was the sole host of the 2023 edition of the tournament initially, but owing to the up and down India- Pakistan relations, it was eventually decided that the tournament will be held both in Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Four games were awarded to Pakistan with the nation retaining its exclusive host status for the tournament while the remaining nine games would be played in Sri Lanka.
The Asia Cup 2023 will be held in the ODI format ahead of the 2023 World Cup in India
The Hybrid model was recently approved by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). The matches will start at 1 pm according to Pakistan Standard Time. When the games are held in Sri Lanka, they will be played at 1:30 Sri Lanka Standard Time. The Hybrid Model will be a different thing for the broadcasters as well. It might be that two separate TV crews and commentators could be sent to cover the games in Pakistan and Sri Lanka. India though will play all their games in Sri Lanka.
The Asia Cup will be held in the ODI format as the games will serve as good practice ahead of the 2023 World Cup in India. Pakistan, Nepal and India will form Group A. Group B consists of Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan. The top two sides from each group will make it to the Super Four. From there top two teams in the Super Four will make it to the final.
