The Duleep Trophy has been very exciting to look at so far. Two quarterfinals were held at Alur and at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Central Zone and East Zone locked horns. in a low-scoring game, Central Zone trumped East Zone by 170 runs. The Duleep Trophy is being played in the Zonal format this season.Β The other quarterfinal however was a high-scoring encounter Noth Zone beat the Northeast Zone by a huge margin of 511 runs.
Now, West Zone will take on Central Zone in the semi-finals of the tournament which will be played at Alur. Prithvi Shaw and Suryakumar Yadav were seen moving to Bengaluru to play in the semi-finals. In a crazy picture, the two were up to their antics and were seen making weird faces. Suryakumar Yadav had a great Indian Premier League (IPL) season this year. Prithvi Shaw however did not have the best of seasons. Shaw will link up to Northamptonshire and play County Cricket in England.
This will be Shaw’s maiden stint in County Cricket. Shaw will join an illustrious lineup that includes the likes of Bishan Singh Bedi, Sourav Ganguly and Anil Kumble who have represented the county. βPrithvi will be playing in four-day County Championship matches and in the Royal London One-Day Cup (50 overs tournament). Before that, he will play in the Duleep Trophy semi-final (against Central Zone), and if necessary, in the final (July 12-16),β a source said to the Times of India.
Talking about Shaw’s performance in domestic cricket, he slammed 379 against Assan in the Ranji Trophy. When he made the score, he went past Sanjay Manjrekar’s record of 377 as he became the highest run-getter for Mumbai in a single innings. Shaw’s monumental knock was also the second-highest score by a batter in Ranji Trophy history.
Suryakumar Yadav on the other hand had an ODI series to forget against Australia which took place before IPL 2023. The Mumbaikar was dismissed for three consecutive ducks against the Kangaroos on home soil. He will be looking to start the ODI series against the West Indies on a bright note.
