‘Comes for five minutes and breaks the internet’- Fans overjoyed as MS Dhoni finishes innings in style against PBKS in IPL 2023

MS Dhoni has played some very impactful innings in the IPL thus far. His role has been limited to coming in lower down the order and finishing the innings for CSK. In the game against Punjab Kings, glimpses of the old MS Dhoni were seen in action. He came in with the score at 188 and hit two sixes off two balls to end the innings on a high for CSK.
In the 4th ball of the 20th over, Sam Curran bowled a slower short ball outside off which had plenty of width and MS Dhoni slapped it over backward point for six. Off the last ball, Curran bowled a full toss at the stumps and Dhoni swung the bat at the right moment to deposit the ball over the mid-wicket region. The crowd at the Chepauk went absolutely bonkers when they witnessed MS Dhoni in action.

Dhoni’s most impactful innings has come albeit in a losing cause against Rajasthan, but he brought CSK back into the game. He arrived at the crease and combined well with Ravindra Jadeja when CSK were a 113-6 after the fall of Devon Conway’s wicket. CSK needed 70 odd runs to seal the game. Jadeja made a quickfire unbeaten 25 off 15 balls with one four and two sixes. MS Dhoni made an unbeaten 32 off 17 balls with one four and three sixes.
Sadly CSK could not close the game down due to a wonderful 20th over which was bowled by Sandeep Sharma. Dhoni’s role has been to come late in the order and provide power impetus to the innings. Dhoni’s biceps had made a lot of headlines along with his chiseled body. The cricket experts said that Dhoni’s shape would aid him in his power game and they were not wrong.
There have been several reports coming in that this could be MS Dhoni’s last IPL. It will be interesting to see whether he ends up playing another edition of the IPL or will he call it off. He has led CSK to four IPL titles. CSK have made it to the playoffs eleven times and have been very consistent.
