Suryakumar Yadav, the talented middle-order batsman of Mumbai Indians, has been enduring a tough run of form in the Indian Premier League (IPL) this season. Despite being a vital member of the Mumbai Indians’ squad, he has been struggling to get going with the bat and has failed to convert his starts into substantial scores.
In the recent match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Suryakumar continued his poor form with the bat and was dismissed for just seven runs. He came in to bat at number four in the 12th over and started with a single, followed by a maximum off a couple of deliveries. However, he could not capitalize on that and was dismissed the very next ball by Jansen, who bowled a cutter that Suryakumar ended up chipping towards mid-off.
This is not the first time that Suryakumar has struggled to make an impact with the bat this season. In fact, he has aggregated just 66 runs from five matches at an average of 13.20 so far. This is a far cry from his performance in the previous season where he scored 480 runs at an average of 40.00.
Moreover, Suryakumar’s poor form is not limited to the IPL. He was dismissed for consecutive ducks in the ODI series against Australia in March, which further dented his confidence. His poor form with the bat has become a cause of concern for the Mumbai Indians as they rely heavily on his contributions in the middle order.
Suryakumar’s slump in form can be attributed to various factors, including lack of game time, lack of confidence, and the pressure of expectations. However, he is a talented player and has the potential to bounce back. He needs to focus on his strengths, play his natural game, and try to build partnerships with his fellow batsmen.
Suryakumar Yadav’s poor run of form in the IPL this season has been a major concern for the Mumbai Indians. He needs to regain his form quickly and play a crucial role in the team’s quest for the IPL title.
