Indian Women’s U19 cricket team won the finals of the Women’s U19 20-20 World Cup 2023 against England and scripted history by winning the first-ever edition of the multinational competition. To add more, on the back of a stupendous bowling, the Indian young brigade reduced England to just 68 runs on a crucial day with Parshavi Chopra, Archana Devi, Titas Sadhu picking up 2 wickets apiece.

The Shafali Verma-led team won the game with 7 wickets to spare and one could understand that it was an emphatic win from the young team. Inspired by the same, Virat Kohli, the Indian superstar took to Twitter to laud the team and claimed that it was one of the most assertive victories, with fans claiming that the victory meant more than that.

“U-19 World Cup Champions! What a special moment! Congratulations girls on your triumph,” said Kohli as he lauded the Indian women’s U19 team. The Indian superstar is thriving hard ahead of the much-anticipated Border-Gavaskar trophy, with the first Test set to get underway on February 9 after the conclusion of the final T20I against New Zealand on February 1, Wednesday.

Soumya Tiwari reacts to Virat Kohli’s Tweet

Indian U19 star Soumya Tiwari, who was responsible for the win against England during a chase, reacted to Kohli’s tweet on her Instagram account and doubted if it was real at all, as she was taken aback by the kind gesture from the Indian superstar.

For the unversed, Tiwari dons jersey number 18 and is said to be a big fan of the right-handed batter. One could understand that women’s cricket is being boosted in the country, with the Indian cricket board leaving no stone unturned to make the Women’s T20 League a superhit as corporates bought the teams in technical bidding with the total amounting to ₹4699 crore.
