In the 24th game of the ongoing IPL 2023, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Chennai Super Kings locked horns in Bengaluru. While the home team was coming off a win against Delhi Capitals at home. On the other hand, the Super Kings came off a close loss against the Rajasthan Royals in Chennai. Meanwhile, in the game, the Royal Challengers won the toss and elected to bowl first.
The visitors had a poor start as Ruturaj Gaikwad was caught at the boundary in the third over. At 16/1, the likes of Ajinkya Rahane and Devon Conway put together 74 runs in 7.1 overs. The former scored 37 off 20 balls including three fours and two sixes. After his wicket, Shivam Dube came and continued the good work done by the previous batters.
He came and bashed 52 off 27 balls including five sixes and two fours. On the other hand, Conway amassed 83 off 45 balls including six fours and as many sixes. After them, the likes of Ambati Rayudu (14) and Moeen Ali (19) played cameos and helped the team reach 226/6.
Royal Challengers Bangalore tried well but fell short in the end
In reply, the Red Army got off to a poor start as they lost the wicket of Virat Kohli(6) in the first over. Mahipal Lomror followed in the next over and the team was reduced to 15/2 in two overs. At this stage, the likes of skipper Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell stood up and put together 126 runs in 10.1 overs. This partnership helped the team keep themselves in the chase.
Maxwell scored 76 off 36 balls including eight sixes and three fours. On the other hand, Du Plessis scored 62 off 33 balls including five fours and four sixes. These innings helped the team keep close to the win. After them, Dinesh Karthik played a cameo of 28 off 14 balls to bring the equation down to 35 off 18 balls.
His wicket turned out to be a turning point as they lost three more wickets and fell short by eight runs.
