Harry Brook had a wonderful game against KKR on Friday at Eden Gardens. The Englishman made an unbeaten 100 off 55 balls with 12 fours and three sixes. The innings helped SRH post a massive score of 228 runs on the board.
The right hander was brutal against pace bowling. He absolutely took the KKR fast bowlers to the cleaners. He received support from Aiden Markram, Abishek Sharma and Heinrich Klassen to take them to 228-4 in their 20 overs.
Brook, however, said at the post-match presentation said something that hasn’t gone down well with the fans. The 24-year-old said that he was abused by the Indian fans. Brook explained that the same Indian fans, who were wishing him well after his century, had abused him after he had not delivered the goods in his first three innings.
‘There are a lot of Indian fans out there who’ll say well done tonight. But they were slagging me off a few days ago. Glad I could shut them up”. Brook said that at the post-match presentation.
Coming to the match, Brook and Markram tore apart KKR with sensational ball striking. The South African was menacing against spin, while Brook looked at absolute ease against pace. Markram made a fine 50 off 26 balls with two fours and five sixes. Thereafter, Brook allied with Abhishek, who made a cracking 32 off 17 balls with three fours and two sixes. Brook got to his hundred in the last over of the innings.
Klassen played a cameo of 16 off 6 balls with two fours and one six. SRH kept on making partnerships at regular intervals. Andre Russell picked up three wickets for KKR and was there best bowler before he had an injury scare but, in the end, he came out to bat. The innings from the big Jamaican was not so fruitful.
KKR were in a crisis at 20-3 in the second innings before Nitish Rana and Rinku Singh brought KKR back into the game with their valuable contributions. Rana batted outstandingly well and made 75 off 41 balls with five fours and six sixes. Rinku continued his good form and made an unbeaten 58 off 32 balls with four fours and four sixes. But in the end, it was not enough as SRH won the game by 23 runs.
Let us take a look at the reactions with regard to Brook’s remark on Indian fans on Twitter:
phir agle match mein chudega, phir log chadhenge, pelenge, cycle chalti rahegi. Players ko thoda kam agressive, zyada humble hona chahiye interview ke time.

Great century but honestly what?! Was the criticism not invited by his subpar performance? This was a flat pitch. Let's see you perform in tougher pitches. Every time you fail, you will be reminded of this statement.
