Virat Kohli is the one of the most wonderful batters to watch in cricket, at present. The Delhi batter did not have a great time with the bat for three years but he shunned all his critics as he came back to form in the Asia Cup 2022 with a stunning century against Afghanistan where he made 122 off 61 balls. Then, he regained his form for the 20-20 World Cup in Australia and he did not look back, ever since.
In the second edition of the Podcast which features players from the Bengaluru franchise, Virat Kohli revealed an interaction that he had with AB de Villiers .
“I spoke to AB De Villiers after I couldn’t play County cricket in 2018 due to neck issue. I told him I’m feeling very jittery, AB told me ‘its not 2014 and you’re not the same player. You’ll be absolutely fine’. I became very calm after that”. Kohli said on the Podcast.

Kohli and de Villiers have had a wonderful relationship in the Indian T20 League since 2011. When de Villiers joined the Bengaluru franchise after he had played for Delhi in 2010. Kohli and de Villiers have had many memorable partnerships for Bengaluru over the years as they took Bengaluru to two Indian T20 League finals in 2011 and 2016.
In 2021, Kohli had stepped down from the captaincy of the Bengaluru franchise after the end of the season. In 2022, former South African skipper Faf du Plessis took over the reins and led Bengaluru to a play-off stage finish in 2022.
The duo have also had two double hundred partnerships in the Indian T20 league, one which came against Mumbai at the Wankhede and another one that came against Gujarat at the Chinnaswamy stadium.
Recently, Bengaluru brought a women’s team. The captain of the side will be Smriti Mandhana. Mandhana’s captaincy announcement was done by Kohli and du Plessis and also. Ab de Villiers gave Mandhana best wishes for the upcoming season in what will be the first edition of the Women’s Indian T20 League.
