McMahon, born in 1929, played 5 Tests for New Zealand between 1955 and 1956. A specialist wicketkeeper, he couldn’t hold on to his place for a longer period owing to his poor batting. He could only make 7 runs in 7 innings. However, he was a highly skilled gloveman, having taken 84 catches and effected 14 stumpings in first-class cricket.
