It was the first match of the Pepsi Triangular Series 1998 between India and Australia in Kochi. On a flat deck, India batted first and posted a mammoth total of 309 runs in their 50 overs. Tendulkar did not have a great day with the bat, as he scored only 8 runs in 11 balls. But Sachin got a second opportunity to perform for the team.
