‘Yeh tho IPL se bhi behthar tournament hai ‘ – Fans react as RSWS 2023 set to be played in England as per reports

The Road Safety World Series will be held in England in 2023 in September according to reports. The first two seasons were held in India. The India Legends were the victors in the last two seasons against Sri Lanka Legends both times. In what will be a first a team from Pakistan will also be a part of the tournament. ESPNcrinfo reported that approval has been obtained by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) to host the tournament there.

The league has been in force since March 2020. The dates for the third edition are still being zeroed according to reports, it could be played in September for a three-week duration. The first season was a huge hit as stadiums in  Mumbai were packed to the rafters to watch a galaxy of former stars in action. Nine teams will take the field for the upcoming edition as compared to eight that played in 2022. The Indian crowds were thrilled to see the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh, Munaf Patel and Manpreet Gony play in the first season of India Legends.

In the second season, Stuart Binny and Suresh Raina joined the lineup and added more batting firepower to the side. Sri Lanka Legends have also been a consistent team as they have also made it to two finals in two tournaments. The first season was partly played in Mumbai. Then due to the pandemic, it was shifted to Raipur. In the second season, the games happened in Raipur and Dehradun. The tournament has been a huge hit amongst the fans as they will get another chance to see their heroes on the big screen.

If the tournament is played in England, then the conditions will be very different which will challenge all the players. The pitches will be different in comparison to the flat tracks in a. If a Pakistan side comes in then it will add more flavour to the tournament and give an added dimension to the India-Pakistan rivalry.
