‘Yeh team tho sirf mediocrity ko promote karte hai’ -Fans react as India lose to West Indies by 2 wickets at Guyana in second T20I
India and West Indies squared off once again in Guyana for the second T20I. The Men in Blue won the toss and chose to bat. Shubman Gill looked all at sea as he fell for 7 off 9 balls with one six. Suryakumar Yadav’s poor run continued as he was run out with a sharp throw from Kyle Mayers off his third ball. Ishan Kishan tried to pressurise West Indies as he hit 27 off 23 balls with two fours and two sixes.
Tilak Varma was India’s best batter as he scored 51 off 41 balls with five fours and one six as the left-hander struck a valuable 51 off 41 balls with five fours and one six. Varma was going all guns blazing at one end, the Andhra lad failed to receive support at the other end. Stand-in skipper Hardik Pandya made 24 off 18 balls with two sixes but it was not enough as he fell quickly and there was not enough support from the lower order. Akeal Hossien, Alzarri Joseph and Romario Shepered. picked up two wickets a piece.
Nicholas Pooran hit 67 off 40 balls with six fours and four sixes for West Indies
India huffed and puffed to 152-7 in their 20 overs. In the second innings, West Indies suffered two jolts as they were reduced to 2-2 in 4 balls with Hardik Pandya taking the wickets. Kyle Mayers hit 15 off 7 balls with two fours and one six but he fell to Arshdeep Singh with the score at 32. Nicholas Pooran brought West Indies back into the game with a terrific 67 off 40 balls with six fours and four sixes. He had support from Rovman Powell and Shimron Hetmyer who hit quickfire 20s.
Though India took some quick wickets at the back end. The Men in Maroon had greater batting depth as Hosein and Joseph bailed them out. Hosein hit an unbeaten 16 off 10 balls with two fours. Joseph hit an unbeaten 10 off 8 balls with one six. Yuzvendra Chahal was India’s best bowler as he picked up 2-19 in his three overs. It was baffling as to why the leg-spinner did not bowl his full quota of four overs.

Young lads have gotten 'fearless cricket' all wrong. They seem to have dispensed with the fear of losing altogether.
