India is playing their second game of the Asia Cup 2023 tournament today against Nepal. The game will be key for India as they need a win to make it to the next round. In case the game gets washed out due to rain, India will qualify in terms of points.

Nepal, playing their first Asia Cup tournament, began by losing to Pakistan by a massive margin. Rohit Sharma won the toss and this time chose to bowl first against Nepal. The Indian team made one change as Mohammad Shami came in for Jasprit Bumrah. 29-year-old Bumrah has gone back to India and he welcomed the birth of his first child on Monday.

The game is very crucial for a lot of Indian players. Captain Rohit Sharma and former skipper Virat Kohli, in particular, will look for some time in the middle. Rohit could only score 11 runs, while Kohli was out for four in the 1^st game. Shaheen Shah Afridi took the wickets of both the Indian superstars.

Virat Kohli is on the cusp of another massive record –

Former India skipper Virat Kohli came into Asia Cup 2023 on the back of good form in ODI cricket this year. Kohli started the tournament with 12898 runs in his ODI cricket career. When he comes out to bat against Nepal, Kohli will need 98 runs to score 13000 runs in ODI cricket. If he does go past the mark he will become the fastest player to achieve the feat.

Only four players have scored above 13000 runs in ODI cricket before Virat Kohli. At the top of the list is Sachin Tendulkar with over 18,000 runs. Sri Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara is at number two with 14234 runs. Former Australia skipper Ricky Ponting is at number three with 13,704 runs.

Former Sri Lankan dashing opener, Sanath Jayasuriya is at number four with 13,430 runs. The rest of the players have played 300 ODI games to achieve the mark. Kohli on the other hand has played just 276 ODI games and the game against Nepal will be his 277^th match for India. Kohli also is 3 centuries away from tying the 49 ODI centuries tally of the great Sachin Tendulkar.
