‘Yeh kya logic hai bhai’- Fans react as Shubman Gill said he stopped his barren run due to a ‘good pitch’ at Lauderhill
India came storming back in the last two T20Is against West Indies. The Men in Blue won the third T20I by seven wickets in Guyana and the fourth T20I by 9 wickets at Lauderhill. The main difference for India was Shubman Gill who ended his barren run in the Caribbean. The Man from Punjab hit a stroke-filled 77 off 47 balls with three fours and five sixes. Gill came out of a bad run with the bat. In the first 3 T20Is, his scores made sorry reading.
The right-hander made 3,7,6 respectively. The West Indies tour has not been Gill’s finest. The run-scoring deserted him in the Test matches and he was not at his destructive best in the ODIs. In recent times Gill has been branded as a flat track bully by the fans and a lot of them say that he cannot score runs anywhere else barring flat pitches. Some further said that he can only make runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

After the 4th T2oI ended, Gill talked about his innings in an interview with Arshdeep Singh. “In the first three matches, I couldn’t score ten runs. But this looked like a good wicket so my intention was to capitalise on it. Once I got a good start, the plan was to finish the game there itself by playing well for the next 4-5 powerplay overs, and that’s exactly what happened. Gill said.
“You have to identify if you are making mistakes and not getting the basics right. I felt that I didn’t make a mistake in those three matches and wasn’t able to convert starts. Gill added when Arshdeep asked him how he looks to make a return from a bad run of form. “The T20 format is like that. When you have 3-4 matches where a good shot is caught by the fielder, and you have to keep an eye on making quick runs, you don’t have time to think much. You just look at what your template was when you were consistently scoring runs,” Gill added.
