Afghanistan and Bangladesh are locking horns in the 3rd match of the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023, in India. Both teams are playing this match at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala. Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan won the toss and asked Afghanistan to bat first at the bowling-friendly surface of Dharamsala.

The Afghan side were looking quite comfortable when they lost only one wicket on the score of 83 runs in 15 overs. But then came the time when they started losing wickets at the quick intervals. From 83 runs for the loss of one wicket, Afghanistan lost their remaining nine wickets within the next 73 runs and got bundled out on the score of 156 runs in 37.2 overs.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz helps Afghanistan make a three-figure total amidst the collapse

Opener and wicketkeeper-batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz was the only batter to Afghanistan to play a crucial knock of 47 runs, hitting 4 fours and a six with the bat. Other than him, Ibrahim Zadran and Azmatullah Omarzai also contributed with the knocks of 22 runs each, off 25 and 20 balls, respectively.

Skipper Shakib Al Hasan and spin all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz scalped three wickets each for Bangladesh in the first innings. Other than these two, Shoriful Islam also picked two wickets, alongside one wicket each claimed by Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman.

While chasing the target, Bangladesh have scored 44 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in 10 overs so far, having Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Najmu Hasan Shanto there in the middle. Fazalhaq Farooqi has scalped one wicket for Afghanistan so far in the second innings.

Notably, it is the first match of their ODI World Cup 2023 campaign for both Bangladesh and Afghanistan. Following the ongoing match against Bangladesh, Afghanistan will lock horns with the hosts, India in their second match of the ODI World Cup 2023 campaign. India and Afghanistan will play this match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Wednesday, October 11.
