Yeh hai Mumbai ka Jalwa’ – Fans overjoyed as MI record a valuable 27-run win over GT in IPL 2023

The Mumbai Indians (MI) and Gujarat Titans (GT) faced off against each other at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Friday. The coin fell in the favour of the Titans and they elected to bowl first. MI were off to a great start at the top. Ishan Kishan made a stroke-filled 31 off 20 balls with four fours and one six. Rohit Sharma showed some signs of form as he hit 29 off 18 balls with three fours and two sixes.

Kishan was dismissed lbw by Rashid Khan and Rohit was caught by Tewatia off Rashid. After the two batters were dismissed, then it was the Suryakumar Yadav show. The Mumbaikar showed his batting prowess to a very eager Wankhede crowd. His show with the bat put a glint in the eyes of the spectators. It was batsmanship of the highest order.  All his shots were unbelievable and were very pristine.

Mumbai Indians made 218-5 in their 20 overs against Gujarat Titans

It looked like everything was coming out of a video game. He was hitting the ball exactly where he wanted. The right-handed batter made a sublime unbeaten 103 off 49 balls with 11 fours and six sixes. Even Mohammed Shami was not spared he gave away 53 runs in his four overs. Vishnu Vinod came to the party at number five and made 30 off 20 balls with two fours and two sixes. Rashid got 4-30 in his four-over quota and was GT’s best bowler. The hundred by Suryakumar was his maiden IPL hundred.

MI put up an imposing total of 218-5 in their 20 overs. In the second innings,  Madhwal breathed fire with the ball. He scalped the big wickets of Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill. GT were 12-2. Hardik Pandya was caught by Ishan Kishan off Jason Beherendorff for just 4 off 3 balls. Vijay Shankar made 29 off 14 balls with six fours. He was bowled by Piyush Chawla when he tried to up the ante.

David Miller made 41 off 26 balls with four fours and two sixes. But Madhwal picked up his third wicket. Tewatia fell to Chawla for just 14 off 13 balls. Abhinav Manohar was bowled by Kumar Karthikeya. Noor Ahmad was Karthikeya’s second wicket. Rashid made an entertaining unbeaten 79 off 30 balls with three fours and 10 sixes. It was not enough as Mi won the game by 27  runs and picked up two valuable points.
