‘Yeh Ajinkya Rahane ka dusara Avatar hai’ – Fans stunned as Ajinkya Rahane takes KKR to cleaners scoring 71 off 29 balls

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) met at Eden Gardens in the 33rd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. CSK got off to a great start, courtesy of Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad. The Maharashtrian made 35 off 20 balls with two fours and three sixes. The Kiwi continued his great form in the IPL and scored a majestic 56 off 40 balls with four fours and three sixes. When Conway was dismissed by Varun Chakravarthy it was more carnage from that point on.

The right-hand left-hand combination of Ajinkya Rahane and Shivam Dube threw the KKR bowlers in disarray. It was a great combination of power and orthodoxy. Rahane smoked the KKR bowlers to all parts. The right-hander has hit a switch in T20 cricket ever since he came to CSK. Rahane scored a cracking 71 off 29 balls with six fours and five sixes. Dube with his long levers was able to provide the power and leverage that they needed.

Rahane’s innings allowed CSK to get to 235-4 in their 20 overs against KKR

The Mumbaikar scored a sizzling 50 off 21 balls with two fours and five sixes. This allowed CSK to reach a massive 235-4 in their 20 overs. Ravindra Jadeja made a quickfire 18 off 8 balls with two sixes to give the perfect finish. Rahane with his hitting is making all the noises for a spot in the Test Championship final in place of the injured Shreyas Iyer. Rahane is also potentially making a claim for a spot in the World Cup in India at number 4.

CSK have the great habit of making people better players once they come into their fold. Big examples have been Ravindra Jadeja, Shane Watson,  Conway, Dwayne Bravo and the like. Rahane has been in imperious form ever since he got that oppurtunity against Mumbai Indians. He made a fast fifty in that game and there was no looking back from there.

Rahane showcased a wide repertoire of shots through his innings and played some dinky but effective strokes as well. A different side of Rahane has come alive in this IPL. One could say it has to be the influence of MS Dhoni that has rejuvinated Rahane in T20 cricket.
