India came up with a thrilling win against Bangladesh in their fourth Super 12 match at the 20-20 World Cup. The game was a closely contested affair that had everything; from great batting to high-quality bowling as well as superb fielding performances from both sides.

The Men in Blue held their nerves and got over the line on the back of a resurgent fielding performance and smart bowling. What has followed however are accusations from Bangladesh and Pakistan fans about the legitimacy of the victory.

The first accusation from opposing fans is about the resumption of the game after rain. Fans in innumerable quantities continue to call the resumption biased in Team India’s favour. Many say that the umpires made the decision in haste and did so that Bangladesh wasn’t given an easy target to chase in a smaller number of overs.

Another accusation is for Virat Kohli who was seen appearing to throw a ball despite not having one when Bangladesh batters were running for the ball. The video of the incident has been doing the rounds of Twitter with fans claiming that the umpire let it go because they didn’t want India to be penalised.

Most of Bangladesh’s fans’ disappointment has emerged from the fact that they were on the way to an emphatic win before the rain hit. As the match resumed after the match, the game changed into India’s favour and Bangladesh were forced to be the losers of a closely contested affair yet again.

After the match, even Bangladesh’s captain Shakib Al Hasan seconded this widely-held opinion in his post-match conference. The all-rounder said, “It’s been the story when we play against India, we are almost there but we don’t finish the line.”

Following the match, opposing fans of Team India pooled and made “#cheating” trend on Twitter. The Indian fans who enjoy a significant majority online clapped back with their own
