By defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad in their final league match, Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai Indians assisted Royal Challengers Bangalore in advancing to the IPL playoffs last season. Now that MI’s 2023 playoff hopes rely on the outcome of RCB’s match versus Gujarat Titans on Sunday, May 21, Rohit wants RCB to repay the courtesy.

At the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai Indians defeated SunRisers Hyderabad by an eight-wicket margin in their crucial IPL 2023 encounter. In the IPL 2023 overall standings, Cameron Green helped MI move up to fourth place by hitting his first IPL hundred.

If RCB defeats GT in their own backyard, they can ruin MI’s celebration and earn a spot in the IPL 2023 playoffs. Given that they have a better net run rate over MI, RCB simply needs two points.

What did Rohit Sharma say in the post match presentation?

Rohit Sharma was being cheeky in the post match presentation after winning the game against Sunrisers Hyderabad. His side did a favour for RCB last season and wanted something similar from them.

He said, “Last year, we did a big favour for RCB, I hope we get the desired result. We did a lot of things right.”

Further, Rohit stated that MI would be responsible for their own failure to make the IPL 2023 playoffs. The MI skipper acknowledged that his squad had a rough start to the competition and emphasized that vital games, like the one against LSG, in which their fate was at stake, were lost.

He said,

“We came the mindset of that, we wanted to win and not worry about what we can’t control. I haven’t spoken to anyone. We’ve got ourselves to blame if we don’t qualify. We didn’t start well and then won three on the trot.”

Rohit Sharma then spoke about how his side lost some games at the crucial moments which might cost them.

He said, “The crucial moments in the game that we lost – there were a lot of moments. The game against Punjab, we could have played well. And the last game against LSG, we had the game in our hands. We can’t look too much into it. Sometimes it just doesn’t come along.”
