‘Ye rahega Kahan tab tak’ -Fans react as Rohit Sharma conveys that India will ‘keep fighting’ until they get the WTC
In a two-match Test series against the West Indies, Rohit Sharma will have his work cut out for him. India and the young West Indies team will engage in a fight of many seasoned minds. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Yashasvi Jaiswal are two young players on the Indian Test team, which is entering a moment of transition.
Ahead of the West Indies series. Rohit Sharma put out a statement saying that “We are going to fight so hard until we get the championship as it’s more important”. To dwell more deeply into this statement, what Rohit says is true as India have not won a world event since 2013 when they won the Champions Trophy in England under the captaincy of MS Dhoni. Under Rohit’s captaincy, India lost the WTC final at the Oval to Australia by 209 runs.
India lost both the World Test Championship finals in the last two cycles
The West Indies ahead of the Test series have got in some promising young left-handers in the squad for the first Test against India. Virat Kohli who made his Test debut in West Indies in 2011, will look to put in big performances and get back to a consistent run of form.
India have a packed Test schedule ahead as they will play close to 18 Tests in three months. India will want to start strong against the West Indies and dominate the two-match Test series. The Men in Blue have lost both the WTC finals one under Virat Kohli’s captaincy and one under the leadership of Rohit. India have dominated the last two cycles but have not got their hands on the ultimate prize. The Men in Blue will want to right the wrongs in a packed Test cycle and also in ODI World Cup 2023.
The Rohit Sharma-led side will want to try their level best in the ODI World Cup at home. This is the first time the World Cup will take place in India since 2011. The Men in Blue will be hoping that history repeats itself as India won the World Cup that year at home in front of a packed crowd at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
