The Day 1 of India vs Australia Third Test has been fully dominated by the visitors. After winning the toss, India opted to bat first and got exposed to the inexperienced spin bowling of the Aussies.

India posted below par score of 109 runs in the first innings and got bundled up within two sessions. Although at the end of the day, Australia ended up with 156 runs for 4 wickets taking a good lead of 47 runs over the hosts.

For India, Ravindra Jadeja shined with the bowl as he took all four wickets. On the other hand, opener Usman Khwaja has been phenomenal for the Aussies as he scored well and made 60 runs off 147 balls. He along with Marnus Labuschagne added 96 runs for the second wicket.

Notably, it is the highest partnership between any Australian pair in this series. Labuschagne scored 31 runs off 91 balls while stand-in captain Steve Smith scored 26 runs off 38 balls. India failed to capitalize on the rank-turner wicket and gave runs very quickly. Rohit Sharma and co. Will be looking to make a great comeback, tomorrow, to stop Kangaroos in the first innings.

India failed to hold the nerves

India, after winning the toss, opted to bat first and failed to read the spin on the rank turning wicket. India Skipper Rohit Sharma tried to start well after getting two lifelines. However, Rohit failed to capitalize on opportunities and got stumped in the very first over of Matthew Kuhnemann.

Notably, Kuhnemann took five wickets as he dismissed Rohit, Gill, Shreyas Iyer, Ravi Ashwin, and Umesh Yadav. Stand-in captain of Australia, Steve Smith was phenomenal with his bowling changes and field settings.

Although, Australia finally had a day when they were the best team throughout the entire tour of India. India’s plan to open the innings with the bat backfired on a wicket that favored spinners right away.

Meanwhile, fans react to India’s below-par performance. A Twitter user said, “Din kharab kar diya.”
