‘Ye dono Chennai ka Karan Arjun hai’ – Fans react as Dhoni and Raina break into tight embrace after Chennai’s win against Lucknow
Chennai had a great start at home in the Indian T20 League 2023. After the MS Dhoni-led side lost the first game against Gujarat, they came back in roaring fashion. Chennai beat Lucknow by 12 runs at the Chepauk, in front of a packed crowd, trouncing Lucknow to win the game. The fans at the Chepauk were treated to a wonderful display of cricket in Chennai.
MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina were seen in a video together after Chennai won the game against Lucknow. Dhoni and Raina hugged in tight embrace, and they broke into big smiles when they saw each other. Raina also retired from cricket when Dhoni said goodbye to international cricket. Raina then joined the commentary panel for the Indian T20 League 2022. There have been many reports that this season in the Indian T20 League will be MS Dhoni’s last.

Dhoni and Raina were the backbone of Chennai. They were called Thala and Chinna Thala respectively which means Leader and Deputy. Raina has played game changing knocks at no 3 for the franchise. Raina provided Chennai with an important left-handed option in the middle order and also chipped in with some handy off-spin. Dhoni was the designated finisher for Chennai. The left-hander has scored 5528 runs at an average of 32.51 and a strike rate of 136.73. He has scored 39 fifties and one hundred in the competition.
Chennai have made it to the Indian T20 League playoffs 9 times. MS Dhoni has led them to four Indian T20 League titles. Chennai will want to give a grand send off to MS Dhoni if it his last season. The franchise will want to do well after two hard seasons in 2020 and 2022.
