‘Yashasvi ne pheliya apna Yash’ – Yashasvi Jaiswal ends Day 2 unbeaten on 143 as India continue surging through in Dominica
India and West Indies continued to fight it out on Day 2 of the first Test in Dominica. The visitors continued to cruise through on Day, having ended Day 1 on 80-0. Jaiswal batted through some tough overs from Rahkeem Cornwall and Jomel Warrican initially. He was also coping short-ball ploy against the pacers but he settled in eventually and kept going strong. Rohit Sharma gave him good company at the other end as he made his way to 103 off 221 balls.
The India skipper hit 10 fours and two sixes in his knock. Though he looked a little bit patchy, he was prepared to bide his time and bat in the middle. His innings was cut short by debutant Alick Athanaze who took the wicket with a ball that turned a bit to get the handle of the bat before the catch was taken by Joshua Da Silva. Rohit would have wanted to convert his hundred into a big one. Jaiswal meanwhile made his way to a splendid hundred on debut.
Yashasvi Jaiswal ended Day 2 unbeaten on 143
As the left-hander kept batting through, Shubman Gill did not look like his normal self. When he came to the crease, he survived a close run-out initially and then he did not look comfortable in his short stay at the crease. He fell to Warrican who was causing some problems to the Indian batters with his line and length along with the turn on offer in Dominica.
Virat Kohli came in and survived two reviews both of which were close calls. Though Kohli was not at his fluent best, he brought out a wonderful cover drive that he played out with authority. Jaiswal kept growing from strength to strength as he ended the day with an unbeaten 143 off 350 balls with 14 fours. Kohli on the other hand was prepared to grind out to keep the scoreboard ticking. The former Indian skipper ended the day with an unbeaten 36 off 96 balls with one four.
With time on India’s side, they will look to bat long and deep in the first innings. With a steady platform set by the openers, India are looking set for a big first innings total. West Indies on the other hand will want to come back into the game with some quick wickets.
Let us take a look at the reactions on Twitter:
Yeshaswi Jaiswal looks focussed to get a double hundred. Hope Virat Kohli also will get going today.
Seems like India will not have to bat in the second innings and WI will surely dance to the tunes of Ashwin and Jadeja in their second innings#INDvsWI

This year, Yashasvi Jaiswal has smashed a 50-ball hundred in the IPL and batted 350 deliveries on Test debut. Such a good mindset to be able to adjust according to the format & match situation.#WIvIND #INDvsWI
