‘Yaha tho pura Mara mari ho gaya’ – Shocking scenes as at Narendra Modi Stadium as ticket mismanagement causes total chaos among fans
The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 has been nothing short of a spectacle. The tournament has seen cricket of the highest order and there have been many last-ball and last-over finishes throughout the tournament. This tournament has seen the most powerplay scores, most sixes, most fours and most centuries hit. The 16th edition of the IPL was played in the traditional home and away format after three years.
But the situation off the field has not been a good one. Chaos unfolded at the Narendra Modi Stadium’s ticket counters. The Indian Cricket Board only had the physical option in terms of tickets. The fans had to bear the brunt of this as a huge stampede took place and people’s lives were in danger. Fans were jumping on top of each other to somehow get tickets. The passionate followers of Indian cricket blamed the board for the fracas that unfolded.

IPL 2023 could be MS Dhoni’s last IPL as per reports
Many were of the opinion that the Indian Cricket Board had seriously mismanaged the whole issue when it came to ticketing. They felt that the tickets were better off being sold online. The fans slammed the board for mismanagement in their part and hoped that such a thing would not happen again come the 2023 ODI World Cup. The ODI World Cup is scheduled to be held in India. This will be the first time that the World Cup will be held in India since 2011.
In Chennai as well the scene was not good. There was a whole black-market mafia happening outside the MA Chidambaram Stadium. Homeless and poor people were collecting tickets and waiting in queues on behalf of fans. These people took a fee from the fans to get the tickets for them. The tickets were all sold through the black market as online tickets were not available after a short time. Adding to this, IPL 2023 could be MS Dhoni’s last season and the craze of Chennai Super Kings, die-hard fans had gone through the roof during home games.
Let us take a look at the reactions on Twitter:
@BCCI needs to focus on these areas too for improvement, fans are not treated well..

BCCI is made on the backs of Indian fans.
These things happening for international matches as well as IPL.
Maybe it is time for fans to show their power and let BCCI know about the immediate actions to be taken.— Dvij Butkar (@dvijbutkar) May 26, 2023

Fans need to destroy BCCI's office once else they won't listen and will continue treating fans like trash.
