Gujarat Giants surprise fans with their move
It was a surprise for the Gujarat Giants team as they decided to retain just 8 players while releasing the rest. Ashleigh Gardner, Beth Mooney, and Harleen Deol were retained ahead of the next season. 11 players were released including Kim Garth which left many stunned.
Delhi Capitals released just three players as they managed to retain the cream of the crop. The likes of Meg Lanning, Laura Harris, and Marizzane Kapp were retained as were young Indian talents like Shafali Varma and Jemimah Rodriguez.
UP Warriorz on the other hand did not release any player from their squad. The idea was to keep the core of the squad together ahead of the next season of WPL. Alyssa Healy and Tahila McGrath will play for the UP team as will the likes of Deepti Sharma and the other young Indian talents.
Royal Challengers Bangalore finished at the bottom of the table last year. This year the RCB team has let go 7 players including South African Dane Van Niekerk. The team is set to be led by Smriti Mandhana as Shreyanka Patil has also been retained. The 21-year-old has shown great promise during her exploits during the CPL 2023 season.
Defending champions Mumbai Indians have released just four players ahead of the next season. Hayley Matthews is set for a return to the blue and gold and continues her sizzling form with the bat. Harmanpreet Kaur will be the captain of the defending champions of the Women’s Premier League.
