‘Won’t be surprised if Karachi finishes last’- Fans react as Multan Sultans register thumping win over Karachi Kings by 55 runs
In what turned out to be a one-sided affair, the Multan Sultans today got the better of the Karachi Kings in the 3rd game of the ongoing Pakistan Super League. The Sultans led by Mohammad Rizwan, used their home advantage in magnificent fashion as they handed Shan Masood and Co., a 55-run thrashing.
Having won the toss, Masood decided that the Kings would field first. The Sultans lost their captain quite early but the pair of Dawid Malan and Reeza Hendricks put up a sublime 2nd wicket stand worth 121 runs. Malan played the anchor role, scoring 52 off 41 deliveries while Hendricks smashed 79 off just 54, taking the bowlers to the cleaners. Hendricks’ innings comprised 7 elegant boundaries and 3 huge maximums. Khushdil Shah also played a vital cameo, contributing 28 off just 13 deliveries, taking the home side’s score to 185 in the allocated 20 overs. Unfortunately for the Kings, none of their frontline bowlers had a good outing. In their defence, the track was extremely docile which didn’t help one bit.
Brilliant bowling performance by Multan Sultans
In response, the Kings lost two early wickets in the form of James Vince and Saad Baig. Shan Masood (30), Shoaib Malik (53) and Kieron Pollard (28) made contributions but it was only Malik’s knock that came at a healthy strike rate. It was a poor batting effort by the team and they could only string together 130 runs in their 20 overs. Mohammad Ali was the pick of the bowlers, claiming three wickets while David Willey and Abbas Afridi picked up two wickets apiece.
The Sultans will be delighted to have gotten off the mark in their very first game as the win will inject a lot of confidence in the team. The Kings on the other hand, need to quickly regroup and get their act together because even though it was just their first game of the season, there were barely any positives to draw.

On paper Karachi is a weak team compared to the others and lots of their players are out of form or not in their prime, won’t be surprised if they finish last this season 😓
